Which electrical tests are run on a motor?
Insulation resistance and polarisation index, winding resistance and balance, current per phase and imbalance, operating temperature and vibration. We measure before and after the work so there is something to compare against, and we hand over a report with the values obtained and the recommendation: repair, watch or replace.

In detail
Diagnostics is what separates a repair from a guess. Before touching the motor we measure insulation resistance and polarisation index, winding resistance and balance, current per phase, temperature and vibration; after the work we repeat the measurements so there is something to compare against.
The output is a report with the values obtained and the recommendations, not a “it's fine now”. It lets you decide with numbers whether a motor gets repaired, watched or replaced, and it leaves a baseline for the next inspection.

Frequently asked questions
What does insulation resistance tell you?
The condition of the insulation between the winding and earth. A low reading warns of moisture, contamination or degraded insulation before the motor burns out.
What is the polarisation index for?
It compares insulation readings taken at different times and separates insulation that is merely damp from insulation that is genuinely degraded. That is the difference between drying the motor and having to rewind it.
Can I order diagnostics on its own?
Yes. Many plants order it to decide with data whether to repair or replace a motor, or to establish a baseline for their critical equipment.
Do you run the tests at our plant?
Yes. Diagnostics and post-start-up verification can be done on site; rewinding and machining are done at the workshop.
